What to Expect in an April Visit to Breckenridge

Breckenridge Ski & Sport > About Us > Breckenridge Mountain Blog > Breckenridge > What to Expect in an April Visit to Breckenridge

These past winter months, the days have been shorter, darker, and even gloomier, as the bright sun of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains sinks early into the sky, yet as we enter April in Breckenridge, we can feel the telltale signs of spring.  Longer days of sunshine increase everyone’s energy, motivating us to spend more time flying over the mountain-through snow made even brighter under the sun’s snowy glare.

While those in other states may celebrate spring by pruning gardens and making final decisions on this year’s landscaping projects, here in Colorado, we are still on the mountain, having fun and getting into the swing of summer.

The typical Spring Break traffic begins to slow down, making way for the spring skiers that understand the enjoyment of riding in a t-shirt and hoodie, as we make the most of the remaining days of the season.

Colorado is already known for having over three hundred days of sunshine during a calendar year, and spring is the perfect time to celebrate the return of light and laughter, as Breckenridge continues to remain open well into the month of May.

Our Spring Skiing Tips:

  • Dress in layers. We suggest a t-shirt and hoodie or a light shell!
  • Don’t forget your sunscreen! The sun is stronger in Colorado than many other places, and when the sun shines directly on you off of the snow, you can still get a goggle sunburn
  • Don’t forget to book your ski or snowboard rentals early and ahead of time. This will save you time and hassle, leaving more time for sending it down your favorite runs!
