Breckenridge Ski Resort is located in the town of Breckenridge, Colorado, just 80 miles west of Denver. Breckenridge ski resort is renowned for its vast and diverse terrain, featuring four interconnected peaks: Peaks 6, 7, 8, and 9. The resort offers over 2,900 acres of skiable terrain, catering to all skill levels; however, the ski resort is known for its large amount of expert terrain.
Breckenridge is also a mecca for terrain park enthusiasts. The resort includes several world-class terrain parks, including the renowned Park Lane. From beginners to seasoned park riders, there are features and lines designed to accommodate various skill levels
Breckenridge resort history dates to December 1961 when the area officially opened as a ski resort with just the Peak 8 ski area, one double chairlift and a T-bar. In 1984, Breckenridge resort was the first Colorado resort to welcome snowboarders, with the first snowboard World Cup held at the resort. It also boasts the highest chairlift in North America, the Imperial Express lift.
In 1996, Breckenridge merged with Vail Resorts, a major player in the ski industry that owns and operates several world-class resorts. Breckenridge has since gained recognition for its commitment to freestyle skiing and snowboarding, developing world-class terrain parks that attracted professional athletes and hosted Dew Tour, among other events.
The town of Breckenridge is also known as the host of the International Snow Sculpture Championships, an annual event where teams from around the world create intricate sculptures from large blocks of snow.
11% of trails at Breckenridge Resort are beginner trails, with designated learning areas at the bases of Peaks 8 and 9. The QuickSilver Super 6 chair offers access to several concentrated green runs on Peak 9. The Snowflake, Rip’s Ride, and Five Superchair on Peak 8 also access an area of beginner trails.
